چکیده
We present spectroscopic follow-up observations of galaxies from the Munich Near-Infrared Cluster Survey (MUNICS). MUNICS is a wide-field medium-deep K 0-band-selected survey covering 1 deg2 in the near-infrared K 0 and J passbands, and 0.35 deg2 in I , R, V , and, recently completed, B. The spectroscopic sample comprises observations of objects down to a limit of K 0 17:5 in five survey fields (0.17 deg2 in total), and a sparsely selected deeper sample (K 0 19:0) constructed in one of the survey patches (0.03 deg2). Here we describe the selection procedure of objects for spectroscopic observations, the observations themselves, the data reduction, and the construction of the spectroscopic catalogue containing roughly 500 galaxies with secure redshifts. Furthermore we discuss global properties of the sample like its distribution in colour-redshift space, the accuracy of redshift determination, and the completeness function of the data. We derive the rest-frame K 0-band luminosity function of galaxies at median redshifts of z = 0:2, 0:4, and 0:7. We find evidence for mild evolution of magnitudes ( M K ' 0:70 mag) and number densities ( K= K ' 0:35) to a redshift of unity. Furthermore, we present the rest-frame J-band luminosity function of galaxies at these redshifts, the first determination of this quantity at higher redshifts, with a behaviour similar to the K-band luminosity function.

The Munich Near-infrared Cluster Survey (munics) – Number Density Evolution of Massive Field Galaxies to Z ∼ 1.2 as Derived from the K-band Selected Survey
We derive the number density evolution of massive field galaxies in the redshift range 0.4 < z < 1.2 using the K-band selected field galaxy sample from the Munich Near-IR Cluster Survey (MUNICS). We rely on spectroscopically calibrated photometric redshifts to determine distances and absolute magnitudes in the rest-frame K-band. To assign mass-to-light ratios, we use an approach which maximizes...
متن کاملساخت و تحلیل فهرست ستارهای از کهکشان M33
In this study, 1200 images and catalogues of M33 spiral galaxy taken by WFCAM camera at UKIRT telescope in J, H and K bands. Cross correlation methods were employed to identify stars in overlapping regions from among images taken in different dates. Careful astrometric and photometric analysis was made to calibrate stellar positions and magnitudes using their 2MASS near infra red survey. The fi...
متن کاملFIRES at the VLT: Measuring the Rest-Frame V-Band Luminosity of Galaxies from z∼3 to Now
We present early results from the Faint InfraRedExtragalactic Survey (FIRES) at the VLT, the main goal of which is to study galaxy evolution in a deep, K-band selected sample. With our NIR selection, we select galaxies based on their rest-frame optical light at all redshifts z ∼< 3. Our seven band photometry, coupled with an accurate and reliable photometric redshift technique, gives us the abi...
متن کاملThe VIMOS - VLT Deep Survey ⋆ Evolution of the galaxy luminosity function up to z = 2 in first epoch data
We investigate the evolution of the galaxy luminosity function from the VIMOS-VLT Deep Survey (VVDS) from the present to z = 2 in five (U , B, V , R and I) rest-frame band-passes. We use the first epoch VVDS deep sample of 11,034 spectra selected at 17.5 ≤ IAB ≤ 24.0, on which we apply the Algorithm for Luminosity Function (ALF), described in this paper. We observe a substantial evolution with ...
متن کاملThe Las Campanas Infrared Survey . IV . The Photometric Redshift Survey and the Rest - frame R - band Galaxy Luminosity Function at
We present rest-frame R-band galaxy luminosity function measurements for three different redshift ranges: 0.5 ≤ z ≤ 0.75, 0.75 ≤ z ≤ 1.0, and 1.0 ≤ z ≤ 1.5. Our measurements are based on photometric redshifts for ∼ 3000 H-band selected galaxies with apparent magnitudes 17 ≤ H ≤ 20 from the Las Campanas Infrared Survey. We show that our photometric redshifts are accurate with an RMS dispersion b...
